Erst mit Realisierung des Zentralklinikums wird es möglich, die Leistungsausweitung voll zu erreichen und die Einsparungen im Betrieb zu generieren. Als erste Baustufe soll ein Herzzentrum, welches die Innere Medizin II (Kardiologie) und Herzchirurgie mit integrierter Notfallradiologie realisiert werden. Das Gebäude weist Fläche von 31.300 m² BGF auf. Im ersten Bauabschnitt wurde der Grobaushub mit Ausbildung eines Berliner Verbaus und die Bohrpfahlgründung vorgenommen. Der Rohbau wurde im Frühjahr 2023 vollendet und der Innenausbau hat begonnen. Der voraussichtliche Beginn der Leistung Küchentechnik ist für Juli 2024 vorgesehen und im geplanten Zeitraum von Oktober 2024 bis November 2024 werden die Arbeiten auf der Baustelle ausgeführt.
