Cette arrivée s'inscrit dans un projet plus large de construction d'un nouvel EcoQuartier mixte composé de logements, commerces, bureaux, nouveaux espaces publics, etc. Ensemble, EcoQuartier et nouvelle gare forment le projet Pôle Gare, répondant au cahier des charges d'Ile de France Mobilité pour l'Aménagement des Pôles d'Echanges Multimodaux. Dans le cadre de ce projet, une gouvernance partagée entre la Société du Grand Paris, la Ville de Cachan, le Conseil Départemental du Val-de-Marne, la RATP et Ile de France Mobilités a été mise en place depuis 2017. Les études préliminaires ont permis d'aboutir à l'élaboration d'un schéma de référence notifié par les parties en janvier 2023 définissant les aménagements nécessaires, leur maîtrise d?ouvrage et leur financement.
