Die Stadt Velen als Träger öffentlicher Belange ist nach dem BHKG (Gesetz über den Brandschutz, die Hilfeleistung und den Katastrophenschutz 2021) verpflichtet eine den örtlichen Gegebenheiten entsprechend einsatzfähige Feuerwehr vorzuhalten. Das mittlerweile in die Jahre gekommene Gebäude an der Gräfte mitten im Ortskern von Ramsdorf entspricht nicht mehr dem Stand der Technik und geltendem Arbeitsschutz. Aus diesem Grund möchte die Stadt Velen ihrer Feuerwehr ein zeitgemäßes und funktionales Gebäude errichten.
