De huidige visuele inspecties binnen het onderhoudsregime zijn onvoldoende om degradatie objectief te monitoren en renovatie te prioriteren. Rijkswaterstaat wenst daarom een geautomatiseerde, objectieve inspectiemethode te ontwikkelen en implementeren, inclusief het bijbehorende product. Vanwege het innovatieve karakter wordt de opdracht aanbesteed via een Innovatiepartnerschap. De opdrachtnemer ontwikkelt de inspectiemethode en test en valideert deze op minimaal twee door RWS geselecteerde operationele zuigerstangen. De opdrachtgever begeleidt de werkzaamheden tijdens de uitvoering op de Oosterscheldekering. Doelstelling deze overeenkomst: De ontwikkeling van een inspectiemethode waarmee schades aan de stangdeklaag (op de zuigerstang) geautomatiseerd en objectief gemeten en gemonitord kunnen worden.
