Každý povodňový prietok negatívne ovplyvňuje podložie ochrannej hrádze a tým aj jej stabilitu. Počas povodňových prietokov boli sledované priesaky podložím so sufóznymi javmi, hlavne v obciach Vlčany, Neded a Dedina Mládeže. Takmer každou povodňovou vlnou dochádza k vyplavovaniu jemných častí z podložia hrádze a zvyšuje sa riziko prelomenia podložia a prietrži samotnej hrádze.
