Für eine Gewässerschonende Erneuerung ist eine Gründung hinter den bestehenden Widerlager, welche nur zum Teil abgebrochen werden sollen, vorgesehen. Durch schlanke Dickblechüberbauten soll so insgesamt die Abflusssituation bei einem Hochwasserereignis verbessert werden. Die unmittelbar angrenzen Brückenbauwerke der Stadt Diepholz werden nicht erneuert.
