Die Überbauung der bestehenden mehrgeschossigen Parkgarage direkt entlang der Straße "Am Fort Gonsenheim" ermöglicht die erforderliche Flächenerweiterung für multimediale Aufgaben am Standort Mainz kompakt und mit kurzen Wegen. Die beiden neuen Geschosse überspannen die bestehende Garage und folgen mit ihren Fassaden dem geschwungenen Straßenverlauf. Der Neubau wird über das zentrale Treppenhaus mit Aufzug auf der Hofseite erschlossen. Eine gläserne Brücke im 1. OG bindet an das "Haus am Wall" (Bauteil 4) an, und schafft so einen direkten Zugang aus dem Bestand. Den Erweiterungsbau betritt man im 1. und 2.OG über einen großzügigen Eingangsbereich, der Besucher und Mitarbeiter mit einem Blick in die Lounge bzw. in ein begrüntes Atrium empfängt. Beidseitig erschließen sich die Bereiche der Abteilungen, welche als Dreibund organisiert sind.
