Projektbeschreibung: Im Zuge eines beschlossenen Variantenwechsels wird das ImBIG als ein Ersatzneubau (ENB) auf einem freien Grundstück auf dem Campus Poppelsdorfs geplant. Hierzu wurde im Vorfeld ein Wettbewerb ausgelobt. Im Zuge der geplanten Maßnahme kommt es zu einer Flächenoptimierung aus verschiedenen Liegenschaften und Zusammenfassung innerhalb der Fachgruppe Biologie. Insgesamt werden aus 5 Gebäuden die Nutzer in den Neubau umgezogen. Dabei werden Flächen konsolidiert und erhebliche Synergieeffekte erzielt. Zum aktuellen Sachstand soll das Gebäude in Holzhybridbauweise errichtet werden. Planungsergebnisse aus dem Wettbewerb werden im folgenden beschrieben.
