Die letzten grösseren Instandsetzungsarbeiten wurden im 1999/2000 ausgeführt. Seither fanden periodische Unterhaltsarbeiten und Teilinstandsetzungen statt. Es stehen nun umfangreiche bauliche Massnahmen für eine Gesamtinstandsetzung an. Die eigentliche Umgebung des Restaurants besteht grösstenteils aus der zum Hafen Wollishofen gehörende Mole mit der Restaurant-Terrasse und dem alten Landungssteg, welche in einem separaten Verfahren vom Tiefbauamt in Koordination mit der Gesamtinstandsetzung des Restaurants «Seerose» zeitgleich instandgesetzt werden. Die Instandsetzung soll 2028 beginnen und der Restaurantbetrieb 2031 wieder öffnen. Das Ziel ist mit einer kostengünstigen Gesamtinstandsetzung des Hafenrestaurants «Seerose» die Gebrauchstauglichkeit für die nächsten 25-30 Jahre zu gewährleisten.
