Gleichzeitig soll hier ein Nationalparktor des Nationalparks Hunsrück-Hochwald eingerichtet werden. Das Wildfreigehege existiert seit 1967 und wurde bis zum 31.12.2023 durch den Hunsrückverein e.V. aufgebaut und betrieben. Seit dem 01.01.2024 hat das Land Rheinland-Pfalz, vertreten durch das Nationalparkamt Hunsrück-Hochwald, die Betriebsleitung übernommen. Das umfassende Eigentum besteht seit 2023. Die Einrichtung ist in vielen Bereichen stark sanierungsbedürftig. Die Betriebsgebäude müssen technisch saniert, der Gehegebereich weitgehend erneuert werden.
