(Spectrometry is the science of measurement conducted using light and other forms of radiation on matter). The spectrometer will be an assembly of three units; a laser to vaporise a sample, a sample-handling system to capture and freeze the vapour/aerosol, and a new type of spectrometer called a Capilliary Absorption Spectrometer to conduct analysis. The three units must be able to interface with eachother via control software to synchronise sample management and analysis.
