We published new actions which focused on the most problematic types of marine litter including fishing gear and also supporting litter removal. To develop policy that will specifically support the identification of marine debris from static gear, the Scottish Government is commissioning a desk-based study to better understand the use of tags and tagging programmes across the UK and abroad where relevant.
