This initiative aims to: - Enhance long-term value by reducing the need for seasonal replanting & associated costs. - Support biodiversity through pollinator-friendly species and varied planting structures. - Reduce waste by minimising plant turnover and promoting compostable materials. - Improve climate resilience with drought-tolerant, low-maintenance species adapted to changing conditions. The new planting approach will prioritise native and perennial species, eco-conscious maintenance practices, and multi-sensory designs that evolve naturally throughout the seasons. Contractors and suppliers are encouraged to align proposals with these sustainability goals and demonstrate innovation in ecological landscaping. All materials must be of high quality and suitable for public display. Submissions will be scored based on (not in priority order): Price: Overall cost-effectiveness, including value for money and transparency of pricing. Quality: Proven quality of plants, materials, and workmanship. Design: Visual appeal, creativity, colour coordination, and enhancement of spaces. Environment: Eco-friendly practices, peat-free compost, and pollinator-friendly species. Experience: Previous experience and proven track record in similar projects with references. Maintenance: Clarity and reliability of maintenance schedule, responsiveness to issues. Communication: Ability to liaise with council officers and provide updates or reports. Safety: Evidence of risk assessments, insurance, and safe working practices. Timeline: Realistic and achievable schedule for planting and maintenance.
