Works will renovate the quay and improve access to the area. A new quay wall will offer safer access and egress to vessels and additional berthing space (the current quay wall has an irregular shaped berthing area). The current practice of cleaning cockles using water at high temperature and then flushing water back into the estuary (still at high temperature) is no longer acceptable. The proposed works will install a suitable cooling system to ensure that the cleaning process does not contravene rules or regulations.
