The council's Playing Pitch Strategy undertaken in 2019, identified the need to upgrade and improve the current provision of pitches and changing facilities. Alongside investment from the Football Foundation, Palmer Road Recreation Ground is redeveloped as a multi-sport hub with improved grass pitches, changing facilities and a new 3G pitch.
