The Extra Care Housing Schemes offer self-contained homes as an option to enable self-care and independent living. The accommodation will usually include a kitchen, lounge, bathroom and bedroom, many will have pre-installed adaptations such as level access showers, handrails and wider doors to accommodate wheelchair users. They will also have an alarm system to provide support in emergency situations. The Council wants to engage with the market to support the shaping of the contracts for Extra Care Housing before progressing the formal process to retender these services.
