Recognising this, and the needs of the Postmaster community, the Post Office board has approved a "Strategic Platform Modernisation" programme (SPM) to modernise and replace the Horizon system and related components. A second device will be used to deliver core components of SPM, providing some of the technology that will replace Horizon in branches. The New Branch IT Platform (NBIT) including the second device is being delivered via the SPM Programme.
