WBC has a statutory duty to provide Short Breaks support to children, young people aged 0-18rs with disabilities and their families within the Borough, under the Children Act 1989. The general duty to provide parent carers of disabled children with 'breaks from caring' was enacted by Children & Young People Act 2008, section 25. Further detail was added through the Breaks for Carers of Disabled Children Regulations 2011 including regulations covering the 'Duty to make provision'; and 'Types of services which must be provided.
