The strategies set our mid to long term needs for the network and identify where further investigation is needed to inform our investment programme. For the current RIS cycle, 20 Route Strategy Initial Overview Reports (IORs) have been produced and published in PDF and ArcGIS StoryMap format in May 2023 using an approach that was agreed in 2021 with the executive board and Secretary of State. The route strategies are to be refreshed to take account of feedback from the public, stakeholders following publication in May 2023, as well as some updated data sources and are planned for publication alongside the Strategic Business Plan in 2025 as final Route Strategies.
