The Toyota HiLux is required to have a gross vehicle weight (GVW) upgrade to between 4000kg and 4700kg, in a 4 x 4 configuration. All chassis, steering, axle, suspension and braking components need to be fully compliant with the increased GVW. The completed vehicle must undergo all relevant Vehicle Certification Agency tests. The design characteristics should allow for good road holding / cornering, good braking and at the same time give a comfortable ride for all occupants. It should also be capable of off-road driving.
