The Authority has responsibility for environmental monitoring and maintenance of seven closed landfill sites, and one household waste recycling centre, and undertakes periodic monitoring at all of the sites. The Contractor will undertake the gas and aqueous (groundwater and leachate) level monitoring of the sites. The seven closed landfill sites have been fully restored to a combination of public open space, private nature reserve, and arable farmland. MWDA hold the necessary certification and management systems to operate those sites that fall under the remit of the Environmental permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010.
