Children and Young People are likely to have trauma and attachment difficulties; the experience of some has been such that they have developed ways of functioning which are challenging to carers in any setting within which they are living. Needs will include behaviours such as cutting, ligatures, head banging, swallowing, inserting objects, restriction of food and fluid, thoughts of suicide and possible attempts on life that increase their risk, either by direct intention to end life, or though impulsivity/misadventure.
