The amount of capital available is constrained by cash levels and CDEL limits and the size of the future capital portfolio is expected to be smaller than in recent years. Strategically the Trust is focusing more on investing in existing infrastructure and medical equipment rather than new buildings. In addition to this changing landscape, there are several challenges with the way that capital projects are delivered. Projects are regularly delivered significantly over time and budget, and with limited advanced warning and few opportunities for leadership to make proactive choices to mitigate cost & schedule increases.
