Ideally a placement that is specialised in this area or at least has a team who have experience in this area. This is important in providing SOJ with the support that he needs. By this I mean the way in which others are aware of triggers, of issues that may cause distress and anxiety and ways and means to allow the young person to communicate issues that they are struggling to articulate. SOJ needs consistent support and consistent relationships from those that are supporting him in his life. This helps to reduce anxiety and reduce of the challenging behaviour that manifests from this. SOJ needs support in attending his education as he has begun to withdraw from this in the last few months. A gentle exploration around why this is and how we can remove any anxiety is needed so he can attend on a regular basis. SOJ has 2:1 support with his education that is agreed by the local authority high cost panel.
