Built in 1866 by David and Thomas Stevenson, the light has a single white flashing character every 20 seconds giving a nautical range of 18 miles. The lighthouse tower, which is 34 meters high, is adjoined to a privately owned dwelling. A masonry wall surrounds the perimeter of the lighthouse station. Lighthouse Maintenance and Redecoration works planned start date is 4th April 2023 and completion date of 3rd October 2023.
