The Composite Materials press is needed for projects within the area of advanced materials at the University of Portsmouth. The press will be used to produce a range of composite materials, including those with natural and synthetic fibres and other types of reinforcement. These facilities are to be integrated into research activities, teaching activities, and industrial engagement. The press sought must meet technical and size requirements including: - Equipped with heating and cooling platens with maximum heating capacity up to 400 C. - Minimum: 50 tonnes of compaction force/5 MPa of compaction pressure - Platen size dimensions : 400 mm x 400 mm to 500mm x 500mm - Floor area (maximum): 1800 x 1200 mm2 - Max height: 1950mm and max width: 1200 mm - When packaged (including any crates, pallets, beams or other supporting materials as well as necessary equipment to move the items) must fit through doorway: height 2000mm x width 1200mm - Max weight 1,100 kg - Stroke: 300 mm or above - Have programmable temperature settings and programmable temperature cycles - Have programmable pressure settings and programmable pressure cycle - Have adjustable strokes - Equipped with data display and defects display - Equipped with automatic, manual selector and data acquisition system Further details explained within the ITT.
