In-situ or precast headwalls and wingwalls either end of the culverts will be integrated into the surrounding earthworks. Some of the overall structure will not be pipe jacked but instead open cut construction due to topography of the ground. An example of this would be at the inlet of the drop vortex chamber where the topography of the ground is much shallower, and the pipes are a smaller diameter. Some of the culverts covered will be constructed with a drop vortex chamber inlet to deal with abrupt earthworks.
