This will help us understand the innovation landscape, potential future technologies, and the packages of R&D, social research and policy measures which could prepare us for future scenarios and unlock opportunities to turn transformational ideas into a reality. Innovation will provide a key mechanism to drive policy ambitions for a productive, sustainable and resilient agri-food sector, producing healthy and affordable food, which contributes significantly to environmental goals including achieving climate change targets. The study should include an examination of: potential pathways to 2050 and beyond, systemic risks, trade-offs and synergies, barriers, uncertainties and opportunities and where possible, innovation readiness.
