The structure was constructed in 1965 with recent condition survey reports highlighting a requirement to replace the mechanical elements. The previous surveys did not identify any defects in the concrete supporting structures however these inspections were limited to visual inspections only. The aim of this investigation is to determine condition and residual life of the concrete abutments and piers and whether the concrete supporting structures are in a condition that they can be retained for the future alterations. In addition to the concrete elements the sheet pile retaining wall is also to be investigated to determine its condition and design life, this includes the sheet pile wall and associated anchor ties.
