The majority of the site is closed to the public due to falls of decayed and spalling masonry. The over-arching objectives of the project are to: o Return the site to a safe and steady state condition. o Facilitate once more, public access to the whole of the site. o Work with the design team to deliver the optimum repair solution for the site which represents best value in terms of through-life costing over a 25 year period (Sustainable Conservation). o Alleviate the subsequent demand for onward maintenance, particularly of high-level and difficult to access areas of masonry, including those parts accessed via adjoining properties; it is our aspiration to avoid re-visiting and re-scaffolding such areas for a period of 25 years following this programme of repair (Sustainable Conservation).
