Its role is to promote sustainable development by assessing the extent to which the emerging plan, when judged against reasonable alternatives, will help to achieve relevant environmental, economic and social objectives.. The IA is a key requirement of the evidence base for the review of the Telford & Wrekin Local Plan (TWLP). The IA includes both the Sustainability Appraisal requirements as well as the Habitat Regulations Assessment of the Local Plan.
