There remain challenges associated with unwanted bycatches of quota species in the Celtic Sea otter trawl fishery. New technical measures were introduced in the Celtic Sea protection zone (7f,g, parts of h and j, and two rectangles on 7e) in 2020, which meant vessels had to use a minimum 100mm cod end mesh size (previously 80) and also use a raised fishing line when haddock thresholds are met.
