These will be used to characterise an rf sensor requiring ultralow phase noise. Each unit should be portable and preferably capable of operating while being mobile. Each unit should contain: i) A femtosecond fibre laser with an appropriate spectral broadening; ii) Stabilised the repetition rate and the CEO frequency or no CEO; iii) Compact and force insensitive, high finesse optical cavity providing subHz to 1Hz linewidth; and iv) and a suitable user software, PC and display for system control and data acquisition. Overall budget for this item is up to £613,333.33 + VAT, delivery to and installation within the appointed laboratories at University of Birmingham, training, manuals and warranties over the length of the Hub grant.
