Often these small and potentially isolated garages prove difficult to let and as a result are prone to dilapidation and antisocial behaviour. It is for these reasons and the authority's continuing desire to provide more affordable homes, while helping to "lift" the wider area, which has led to this proposed "pilot" scheme to convert 30no. void garages in Barnard into accommodation for affordable rent.
