The Bank is committed to promoting the good of the people of the United Kingdom by maintaining monetary and financial stability. The Bank is the United Kingdom's resolution authority for banks, building societies, central counterparties and certain investment firms ("firms"). The special resolution regime (SRR), as defined through the provisions of the Banking Act 2009, is the process by which the authorities can intervene to manage the failure of a firm.
