The products of these reactions, alkyl amines, are high value products commonly found in biologically active molecules such as pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Part of the project involves developing asymmetric amination methods. We therefore require the ability to measure the enantiomeric excess of the chemicals made. The University is seeking to purchase an analytical HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) machine, to use in conjunction with chiral phase analytical columns.
