They have a national and international reputation in their academic field and demonstrate leadership both within the University and externally, with recognition often extending beyond academia into relevant policy and practice communities. Like all academic members of staff, unless explicitly specified to the contrary, professors are expected to do research and teaching. Engagement is not normally a separate third activity, but in the main drives from research and teaching activities. The allocation of specific responsibilities and projects within this team is determined by the Vice-Chancellor from time to time.
