Highways England is also in the process of establishing a safe way of destressing the ground anchors at A66, Greta Bridge to enable the load cells at each anchor to be replaced. A66 Greta Ground Anchors and the Heat Strengthening works form Task A of this task. The technique of reheating existing bridge deck beams allows for the avoidance of expensive and disruptive propping works that may be needed for replacement of the whole beam or a section of it.
