Due to contractual obligations to customers and our own content requirements, the Studio needs to operate 7 days a week, 365 days a year, whilst the core Met Office studio team works Monday to Friday. In the past, we have tried to cover this shortfall using various shift-work teams, but this resource is no longer available. Since moving to broadcast quality output, the process has become more specialised and requires specialist skills.
