The project is to harness the huge tidal range of the River Mersey and its basin to produce power for the Liverpool City Region's businesses and citizens is recognised by Government in the Liverpool City Region Devolution Agreement dated 17 November 2015 ("Devolution Agreement"). As a consequence of entering into the Devolution Agreement, the Government has committed to providing support and guidance to the Liverpool City Region's development of a cost effective tidal power scheme.
