Whilst a proportion of all such recoveries are resourced by the Highways Agency, Motoring Organisations and motorists' own private arrangements, the remainder are recovered by order of the Police using appropriate powers, or at the request of the owners themselves. The ODPCVC wishes to appoint a number of Recovery Operators (Suppliers) to deliver the provision of vehicle recovery. The Vehicle Recovery Scheme will be managed 'In house' by a small team based at Police Headquarters in Durham.
