C&P Commercial Services Division supports the delivery directorates to achieve good business outcomes by developing cost, time and supplier intelligence required for effective decision making. The Cost Intelligence Database was first established in 2013/14 The database acts as a repository to store unit cost data from schemes as they are built, which is then used to benchmark and challenge the cost base of future schemes. As the database is primarily used as a data store, the level of intelligence that can be directly derived is limited. The investment is to trial the use of automation of processes that will enable extraction of intelligence from source. This will reduce the need for manual processing of data, limits potential human error and the ability to demonstrate efficiency more effectively.
