This will build upon HE Research Report 40/2017 (Tsang, 2017 [research.historicengland.org.uk/Report.aspx](http://research.historicengland.org.uk/Report.aspx?i=15626&ru=%2fResults.aspx%3fp%3d1%26n%3d10%26rn%3d40%26ry%3d2017%26ns%3d1)), which compared the costs of commercial 'deep storage' facilities with established museums. The aim is to take that work further with a comprehensive study of museum charging policies across England. Charging policies here means the costs imposed by museums for transferring into their care archive material produced by archaeological projects. Those costs vary widely from museum to museum and additional information on what those charges are intended to cover will be produced.
