This will utilise the retail model which was a Department of Health led initiative using a national specification and tariff price list. The requirement to use these ended when the DoH transferred responsibility to local authorities in each area where it is operating. The retailer network is used by the NHS and the Council. Practitioners issue prescriptions for equipment from an approved equipment list. Issuing practitioners can include occupational therapists from the Council and nurses and OTs from the NHS.
