The service is specialist and requires technical and operational knowledge of smart motorway calibration and optimisation, MIDAS and HATMS. For smart motorways to work effectively speed and flow thresholds need to be determined and congestion seed points identified. There are a number of techniques and tools available to monitor and calibrate smart motorways.
