There are already about 25 GP practices that monitor INR levels for their own patients on warfarin. However, BCCG have identified some communities where there is inadequate or no local coverage. ### It should be noted that • The existing contracts with GP practices, the Bedford Warfarin Service and at acute hospitals that cover the current anticoagulation service will remain in place. • BCCG anticipate building capacity to the level of 1000 extra patient caseload • That any new provider would need to manage at least a caseload of greater than 40 patients.
