The Council's old building, the Civic Centre which is located in close vicinity to the new offices, needs to be demolished to allow the Council to complete the regeneration of the Gade Zone by building new residential properties. The Civic Offices were originally constructed in the 50s as part of Hemel Hempstead's New Town Developments. Due to the age of the building, there is a large amount of Asbestos that will require removal prior to the demolition taking place.
