The resulting report will increase our understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence and provide a platform to identify a robust set of assumptions highlighting key uncertainties and gaps. The contractor will create a bioenergy supply chain model which will provide credible estimates of costs, greenhouse gas emissions and energy generated from a range of bioenergy routes to 2050, which will feed directly into the broader modelling tool being built to assess heat decarbonisation options more widely, and ultimately leading to a better understanding of the costs and benefits of bioenergy pathways compared to other options.
