This machine tool offers a mechanically stable machining platform but requires refurbishment to ensure it offers optimum mechanical performance. Furthermore, the electrical system requires upgrading to provide the latest control system features such as those seen on modern machine tools. As the AMRC is a research establishment, an essential requirement of the refurbishment is the addition of, or providing the facility to add, a number of sensors to the machine tool.
