This is essential to Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and to meet Defence Task (DT) requirements. Current Royal Navy (RN) Hydrographic land based Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) capability is invested in the Trimble (manufacturere) R7 (model) receivers. The R7 has been in service for the past 10 years and additional units are now required to be purchased to support R7 units as they reach end of life over the next few years.
